I would like to take this opportunity to express my great disappointment in working with the Macheete agency. I have never given a bad review on the Internet, but here we have spent several thousand euros and received very little in return. We hired Macheete for the radio promotion of our single and the PR for us as musicians, but the performance was far below expectations. Despite the substantial sum we paid, we received no significant mention in major media, even spending an additional 4 figure sum on a relevant magazine. A major achievement was pitching our single to radio stations. The contract states "4,500 radio contacts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with the request to include the single in the program". Yet the song wasn't even played. We didn't receive a single proof of airplay. A particularly disappointing point from our point of view was the lack of transparency and professionalism. We would have appreciated it if it had been clearly communicated that our style of music might not fit perfectly into the portfolio. The texts about us also seemed amateurishly written, contained text passages that were partly copied from our own texts and even had spelling mistakes. In our view, this is unacceptable for an agency that presents itself as a professional service provider for PR and marketing. At the end of the promotion phase, not even an evaluation was carried out, nor did we receive any overviews/statistics/written proof of campaigns from the agency. To summarize, we can say that working with Macheete was a great disappointment and we cannot recommend this agency to anyone. The services are disproportionate to the costs and we hope that other musicians and bands will learn from our experience and choose a more professional and committed agency.
