Our client One Five Six from Birmingham in the UK came to us with the problem that the website at that time had problems with the checkout, especially on mobile devices, as the checkout could not be continued after the credit card check. Their website allows the booking of apartments in an aparthotel in the city center of Birmingham. We were initially tasked with investigating whether and how these errors could be resolved.
However, the audit revealed several other shortcomings:
In particular, after discovering the grossly negligent publication of API keys to sensitive systems, the client followed our recommendation and took the old website offline. Fortunately, the client was able to put a placeholder site online via their booking software while we implemented a new website based on ASP.Net Blazor.
The new website has been available at onefivesix.uk since June 2024 and integrates the API interfaces of the booking software in a secure manner alongside the payment service provider Stripe. Furthermore, we switched from an internal integration of Stripe to the new Stripe Checkout including a clean session handover. The feedback from One Five Six and its customers about the new portal is consistently positive.

Our focus is on the development of modern cross-platform applications, primarily for mobile devices but also for IoT solutions, and we are also starting to expand our expertise in the area of augmented and virtual reality.
In our view, the latter areas in particular will replace classic mobile app development in the future. New e-commerce shopping experiences from industry giants such as Shopify and Shopware are already giving us a glimpse of this future.

What does innovation mean to us? - That we think outside the box and don't just follow traditional approaches. A good example is the development of our white label platform Home of Apps. The idea arose from a customer request, but solves a real problem in the market: having your own app developed for your online store is expensive and requires continuous maintenance. With our white label approach, we also enable small and medium-sized retailers to conquer this sales channel without having to spend tens of thousands of euros as an initial investment.
What does agility mean to us? - Not being trapped in rigid structures and approaching everything iteratively to the best of our knowledge and belief. We also tend to work in projects according to the SCRUM framework.
After the customer has placed the order, the Scrum Master provided by us, or alternatively a Proxy Product Owner, initially goes through the requirements in the initial requirements specification with the customer's Product Owner and formulates the Epics and Stories for the actual project implementation. In addition, the criteria for the completion of epics and tasks are defined in accordance with the specifications for quality assurance.
Parallel to this, work starts with our UI/UX designers to define the desired design or, if designs are already available, to optimize them for use in a mobile app.
Once this basic work has been completed, we start the classic SCRUM process and hand the project over to the SCRUM team consisting of the customer product owner, our proxy product owner (optional), our scrum master, developers and, if required, a UI/UX designer.
The project is then considered complete when all tasks and epics have fulfilled the initially defined criteria.
For new projects, we like to first carry out an inventory analysis with our customers in the form of a Lean Canvas workshop.
We then use the resulting information as the basis for an initial rough cost calculation, which we then extrapolate using the agreed hourly rate. The resulting total gives us and our client an indicator of the budget and time frame within which the project will take place. However, the actual billing of the project takes place according to the time spent, either at the end of the month or after the end of an iteration (Sprint) of usually 2 weeks. The reason for this is that with agile project planning, the scope and extent of the project can change during implementation.
The Lean Canvas workshop, the initial calculation and the creation of a rough specification will be invoiced by us before the specification is handed over. If we are awarded the contract, these costs will be offset against the project hours on a pro rata basis in favor of the customer.
We are very industry agnostic, which means we accept clients from all sectors of the economy, but tend to focus on small to large medium-sized companies. It doesn't matter whether these customers come from Germany or abroad. Our current customer base currently extends to Germany and the United Kingdom.
