I have been a customer of Do.de for over 10 years, before I had private hosting with my own servers for cost reasons at that time I switched to Strato, which I found relatively expensive and poor support after the test phase. Then I found this one through an advertising banner, and have been really satisfied ever since. I've always gotten cheap and stable hosting here and the prices of the domains are still great today What I find particularly good is that DO.DE, always helped me promptly, even with problems I caused myself. A really capable and friendly team :)
0I booked a total of 6 domains (.co.uk, .store, .website, .tech, .store & .blog) on 02.12.2021 via the website do.de, which is operated by Greenmark IT GmbH, and paid for them for one year. Since I no longer needed the domains already a little later, since the basis for it ceased to exist, I cancelled the domains in writing (via aboalarm.de) on 02 March 2022 at the next possible date. Literally, the letter said "Purely as a precaution, I hereby terminate all my domains booked with you at the next possible time". The letter was sent by registered mail at the time and was delivered. On 31.12.2022 then the shock: I should pay 316.08 EUR for domains that have long been canceled and these were extended for another year despite cancellation. Allegedly the cancellation was never received. Instead of looking for a common solution for domains that were not used from the beginning, a collection service is directly commissioned. Once and never again!
0Hello Manuel S., Thank you for your feedback, to which we are happy to comment: Unfortunately, neither a letter nor an e-mail from aboalarm has reached us, nor do we have any influence on such terminations by external service providers. If you commission an external provider with your cancellation, then it is their responsibility to ensure an effective cancellation by sending the service provider or yourself a corresponding confirmation of cancellation from us. Direct termination of your services with us is possible at any time and without complications. The easiest way to do this is directly online via your customer account. With just a few clicks, you can initiate the cancellation here (see our Wiki: https://www.do.de/wiki/domain-kuendigen/). Alternatively, you can also cancel in writing or use the online form on our website, which is also linked on every page in the footer https://www.do.de/vertrag-kuendigen/. Basically, the renewal of a domain is always in the interest of the customer, as long as there is no cancellation. The damage caused by an unwanted cancellation is usually always higher (sometimes up to five figures) than the fees in case of an unwanted renewal. Therefore we take a lot of care and conscientiousness in deciding whether to renew a domain or actually delete it. Only in case of a cancellation we decide for a deletion. A special case are prepaid accounts. These are only renewed if a credit is loaded for them. Please note that it makes no difference for a domain if it is used or not. Also we have no possibility to reclaim renewal fees from the registry. If an invoice is not paid, multiple payment reminders and reminder letters will follow before a collection agency is commissioned by our system. By the way: After a short investigation we notice that aboalarm uses a wrong address, which neither appears in our imprint of the websites www.do.de and www.greenmark-it.de nor on our invoices or other documents. Accordingly, the delivery promised to you has not taken place or has taken place incorrectly. We regret this incident very much and share your annoyance about this. However, we see the responsibility for this clearly with the service provider aboalarm used by you and its failure to obtain a valid termination confirmation for you.
