Description
Creative Navy UX Studio was commissioned to redesign the UX of a video conferencing web app used in public administrations and universities. Summary
17 April 2024The new UI is many times better than the old one, for example it takes on average 2x less clicks to achieve the most important goals. It is also much less complicated, i.e. you can understand it even without reading the manual. Creativity with a different perspective Thinking about processes from scratch. That was great, because I was afraid that we might end up with the same Ui in different colors, but they changed it completely

Background
We are a manufacturer of printing systems that simplify the process as much as possible. I take care of the product development and also serve as head of the consulting department that supports the sales department.
Challenge
Our systems are characterized by the fact that they are easy to operate. As we are changing our HMI technology, the topic of usability has come up again and we have used it as an opportunity to improve the design of the controls.
Solution
Experience with other machines that are used in an industrial setting. The willingness to familiarize yourself with the subject and think along with it. The attitude, which is also a factor
Even before we started working together, we spent a lot of time together to better define what we wanted to achieve, to clarify technical aspects and to prepare the design. Then there was a phase of many weeks in which the provider worked on the design, as a concept or solution approach, and then at a certain point the preparation for the developers.
There were several designers, we communicated with two. There were probably five or more, graphic designers, digital designers, etc.

Yes, the deadline was met and feedback was constantly collected, about twice a week, and then it was implemented

i am satisfied, what should i answer here. it would have been nice if it had taken less time overall

Summary
04 April 2024Their experience with enterprise products used by professional users and their involvement in the early stages of our discussions showed me that they understand the difficulty of our task and do not take it lightly. It was important for us not to enter into a partnership where the partner delivers this and that without first translating all the pieces into a framework that is actually meaningful to the users.
Reviewer Linda Rawles Transformation Leader at The Offices Group
Background
We are a real estate conglomerate that provides a wide range of leasing, new construction and services to our industry. My role is to lead the development of new initiatives to drive change and stay ahead of the curve.
Challenge
The goal was to develop a new IT system that combines a range of account management services under one hood, with the aim of making it a stand-alone, marketable product that is modular and can be expanded into a Saas solution. The idea was to develop a product that could serve as a first version for our internal users to replace the myriad of systems we had before, but also as a test case for market validation of the new ambitions.
Solution
Their experience with enterprise products used by professional users and their involvement in the early stages of our discussions showed me that they understand the difficulty of our task and do not take it lightly. It was important for us not to enter into a partnership where the partner delivers this and that without first translating all the pieces into a framework that is actually meaningful to the users.
Creative Navy took us through a series of phases, each with a piece of the puzzle. We liked this approach because it was low-risk and we felt it matched the complexity of what we were trying to do. So they did an exploration first, and then we had two more phases of product concepts where we incorporated the developers' feedback and perspective. Then they designed a core version of the system to start coding and added more features and areas to the system.
They were responsible for managing their own team, which varied between a few and several people during these phases. We had to deal with the project manager and a chief designer who were our contacts. I think the team included different types of specialists for research and so on.
Results
The most important thing for me was that we arrived at a version of the product that was feasible in terms of implementation without missing the core needs that we had sorted in our previous estate. That was my biggest concern and it's great that we achieved that. The design has played a part as it has streamlined the system for simplicity.
Yes, the big timeline was met, and it was managed well, with many difficult decisions made about where to add and remove potential resources to achieve on-time delivery.
Concern for our business case and sympathy for all the interests that inevitably clash on a project like this. It's typical that there are such tensions, and I felt that Creative Navy resolved the tensions rather than contributing to them.
I don't know, we had a debriefing where we exchanged feedback. Nothing to add

As a German IT company, we have been working with Creative Navy in the UX environment for several years. They regularly exceed our expectations in terms of quality, creativity and speed. The collaboration is great fun and is reflected in the success of our projects.
0We've started a project in cooperation with Creative Navy in 2021. Our goal was to create a never-seen-before UI with a great UX for a new control system we were working on. From the first consultations onwards, we had a great experience working together with CN. The project team took all the time they needed to understand our new product and what our customers are going to expect from it. CN’s people carefully listened to our input and our explanations and took all our thoughts and experiences from the marked analysis into consideration until we were completely satisfied with the UX. They also alerted us when we drifted too much into our personal ideas, which would have led to a confusing experience for the user. In such a case, they explained to us exactly what a user who is not so deep in the subject matter might misunderstand and showed us another, better way of solving the problem. When it came time to design the UI, the team at CN took the time to design some basic styles and a lot of variations from these styles. Within iterations, the designers at CN did not become tired of our special wishes and kept going until we were fully satisfied. When implementing the UI on our embedded device’s display, we came across some technological limitations, so we had to remove some effects from the UI for this version of the design, which was also done quickly and without hesitation by CN. All in all, I can only recommend working together with CN. They helped us creating an outstanding UX and UI for our system, which would have never achieved without them. Thanks to everyone at CN for this great experience and their good work.
