Within the FIS Group, we have placed AI-related research and development in the hands of a special team that brings together AI experts from the three companies FIS, Medienwerft and FIS-ASP. The aim is to support customers in creating their own AI-supported applications.

We have connected our knowledge in the company to an AI. Ticket, Confluence and Jira data should be semantically accessible to the AI. It is important to be able to evaluate the quality of the results and draw conclusions about the original data set. A classic AI chatbot should become more intelligent and also be able to answer questions that an AI model cannot know dynamically, as the knowledge was previously only available in the company.
In particular, technical data must also be interpreted correctly by the AI. Another challenge is the German language, as previous AI models were primarily trained in English. Providing the data without having to make costly changes to the model was an important goal. It was important for us to provide a system that does not exhibit hallucinations.
Using Retrieval Augmented Generation technology (RAG), we were able to enable an LLM to be connected to external knowledge without having to train it at great expense. The knowledge from the ticket, Confluence and Jira data is organized in a high-dimensional vector space. This is done using a self-developed embedding model called FISMWASP. This is able to embed German and complex technical issues in the right place in the vector space. Using a multi-stage retrieval process, we can then provide the necessary text modules to the AI as context.
With our new RAG system and the development of FISMWASP, we have created the basis for state-of-the-art AI systems that are capable of harnessing corporate knowledge. We have also made the model freely available on huggingface:
