Description
Tchibo is one of the largest coffee roasters in the world and operates in over 20 countries. It is known for its innovative products, customer focus and successful brand marketing. The company relies on an omnichannel strategy consisting of cafés, stores and e-commerce retail.
Challenge
In order to be able to react to changes in retail and customer behavior in a future-proof manner, Tchibo developed a rebuild of its mobile shopping app together with Protofy in 2021. In close agile cooperation with Tchibo, Protofy was able to contribute a comprehensive set of services including project management, strategy, conception, design, architecture and development to realize a modern and scalable Flutter app.
Solution
Native & Intuitive, Simple & Fast, More Clarity
By redeveloping the app in native form, we had the opportunity to rethink its structure and layout from the ground up. Our goal was to create a user-friendly and intuitive user interface that allows users to navigate the app with ease, improving the shopping experience and creating more space for inspiration, assortment and content.
Optimized usability through navigation & design
To achieve this goal, we optimized the navigation of the app by restructuring and reducing the content. In addition, the facelift and adaptation to the new corporate design gave us the opportunity to revise and simplify individual design elements.
Validation through user feedback
We gained the first indications of possible improvements from qualitative user tests at Tchibo. As we progressed, we were able to validate our designs with smaller user groups and adapt them accordingly.
Lean development
In the first version of the app, our focus was on pursuing a lean development approach. This means that we have always paid attention to how we can achieve and publish the best possible result from the needs of the users and the technical possibilities.
