Challenge

The whole world knew Twitter as the social media platform. 

But it didn’t know the company’s unique culture, often overshadowed by the controversies Twitter was exposed to and the fact that all tech companies look the same.

Solution

Inspired by the brand’s unexplored belief - Biz Stone, the co-founder, said “when you let people know you are like them, passionate but not perfect, you will get goodwill in return” - we developed a global campaign that shows the company’s human side, in a transparent and un-tech way; and who better to prove this than its very own employees. 

We did a series of films to tell the story of Twitter’s drive to serve the world’s conversation, bringing to life the real experiences of God-Is, Thaddeus, Melissa and Biz Stone himself.

Description

In a world buzzing with digital distractions, the Dutch National Library spotted a concerning trend: a dip in book reading among adults and a troubling literacy rate among teens. They realized it was time to bring reading back into the spotlight for these groups. Waves stepped in with a fresh approach, rolling out a social media campaign designed to spark interest in reading once again.

Challenge

The primary challenge was reigniting young people's interest in reading amidst the myriad digital distractions they face daily. The question was: how do we effectively engage them and truly inspire a renewed passion for reading?

Solution

We made a lively campaign that made reading look as exciting as it truly can be. Using snappy visuals, interactive bits, and a nudge from some cool social media personalities (Merlijn Kamerling, Damn Honey, Lotte van den Noort, Khalid Boudou & Margje Woodrow), we put together stories that showed reading isn't old-fashioned—it's an adventure. We aimed to inspire that diving into a book can be as thrilling as scrolling through a feed.

Results

While it's still early days to quantify the long-term impact of these campaigns, initial feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Engagements on social media platforms have spiked, with significant increases in mentions and discussions around reading and participating influencers reported a surge in followers expressing renewed or newfound interest in reading. These indicators, though preliminary, suggest a promising shift in perceptions and attitudes towards reading among both teenagers and adults. 

Through these campaigns, Waves and the Dutch National Library have laid the foundation for a (highly needed) cultural shift towards reading, highlighting the timeless value of literature in our lives. As we continue to monitor and build upon this momentum, our hope is to see a sustained increase in reading engagement, nurturing a society that values and cherishes the power of written words.

Description

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutors’ Office are part of the Kosovo judicial system, but internationalized and relocated in The Hague. We have a framework contract for the coming four years to provide quality informational videos that inform the people of Kosovo and the wider region about mandate and proceedings of the court. These external videos need to bridge the geographical distance between the audience, and the court. Film and video enable the court to discuss difficult topics, and inform the audience about progress or how to get involved as a witness for instance.  

Challenge

Due to political and cultural sensitivities that need to be taken into consideration as well as the high level of confidentiality to comply with in judicial institutions, creating content and finding the right images can be a challenge. 

Solution

We create high quality videos in the three different languages of the court, English, Albanian and Serbian that are customized for broadcasting and online platforms. Everything was checked and approved by the lawyers of the court.

Description

The Japanese company TAKENAKA has been in existence for over 400 years and is firmly anchored in the industry. This success story was continued in Europe 50 years ago. For the 2023 anniversary celebrations, we were able to combine the company's history, customers and future on the big screen in three films. A mixture of interviews and architectural shots of the architectural firm's completed buildings created an exciting insight into the company.

Challenge

Within two weeks, we had to photograph many different interview partners and reference buildings from TAKENAKA Europe in 8 different countries. A short period of time for a large number of countries. During this period, we not only had to capture the history of TAKENAKA, but also customer statements and the future prospects of the company.

Solution

We flew to England and Spain, followed by a road trip through Belgium, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Serbia. Good organization and a perfectly timed shooting schedule made it possible for us to complete all stages within the short period of two weeks and achieve a first-class result.
